Scratched Glassworks, also known as @ScratchedGlass, is an American glass artist recognized within the high-end functional glass community for his exceptionally detailed custom sandblasting and engraving work. Specializing in transforming finished borosilicate glass through permanent surface carving and blasting, Scratched Glassworks creates intricate frosted designs, patterns and imagery directly in the surface of the glass.
His work has appeared on pieces from some of the most respected names in American functional glass, including Sovereignty Glass and Illadelph, along with documented collaborative work with Sherbet Glass. Rather than simply applying a graphic or finish, his sandblasting process physically alters the glass surface, creating detailed artwork with striking contrast against the original polished glass.
Scratched Glassworks has developed a strong following among collectors for the precision, complexity and unmistakable character of his work. Because much of his work involves individually modifying existing pieces from other established glassmakers, each collaboration combines the original artist’s glasswork with Scratched Glassworks’ distinctive surface artwork, resulting in a genuinely unique collectible.
